Highland Park Brewery Hello, LA

What the brewers say

"Flavors and aromas of tropical fruit, mango, and passion fruit from the Citra and Mosaic hops."

What our panel thought

"Bright, citrusy, floral nose—orange blossom, hint of vanilla. Flavor starts bright and sweet on rich malt—juicy tang drops into earthy, grassy, pine-tree-sap medium hop bitterness. Some sweetness and resin linger."

What our editors thought

"High-key guava and passion-fruit notes bathe the nose in light. That lightness pushes the contrast in the sip, at the expense of mid-tone values—blown out between blazing top-fruit notes and a sharply defined bitter end."

Green Cheek Beer Company Brad Coast

“A delightful aroma of white wine, apricots, Thai basil. The soft, fluffy body would make you think ‘hazy,’ if you didn’t know better. Bitterness is clean and on the money. The hop taste is more herbal with jasmine, white tea, and lemongrass. Well balanced.”

Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Happily Deceased

“Classic hop profile in the aroma: grapefruit, orange, pine, a bit of green onion, chives. A hint of bready malt. The flavor echoes the aroma. Moderate sweetness into moderate bitterness. Finish is quite dry, very clean. Modern take on a classic West Coast IPA.”

Coronado Brewing Company Stingray IPA

**Aroma:** “Earthy, piney, grassy hops notes. Hint of biscuit malt. Orange peel, lemon-drop candy, hints of scallions, melon, very subtle grainy malt notes. Overall suggestion is of brightness.” **Flavor:** “Initial punch of fruity hops flavor that diminishes quickly. Tropical fruit on the tongue more than in the nose. Substantial evergreen character is a nice surprise. Good creamy mouthfeel adds to the overall palate character. Bitter finish is grapefruity and smooth. Malt plays a supporting role but doesn’t get in the way. The green-onion note sits on the tongue through the finish. A lot of spruce and pine notes.” **Overall:** “Moderately malty IIPA, very strong on the pine/resin side with a touch of citrus on the nose. A deceptively drinkable double IPA! Great blend of classic American IPA character along with some New-World flavors that make for a delightful tasting experience.”
