Reuben's Brews Holiday Gose

What the brewers say

“Includes more than 10 pounds of cranberries per barrel, along with sweet orange zest, a touch of coriander, and a hint of sea salt.”

What our panel thought

“Smell immediately reminds me of South African biltong—loads of coriander and umami. Glimpses of citrus with shadowy hints of spice. Cranberry tartness with an orange wash that has a touch of pith. Hard to pick out cranberries or nutmeg; it’s rather the coriander-citrus that holds the show.”

What our editors thought

“Holiday spice and sawn pine lumber echo the season in the subtle nose. The body offers light acidity and mild sweetness that’s almost too subtle for the intentions.”

Smog City Brewing White Peach Saison

Fresh peaches, peach skin, raw pie crust in the aroma; a country kitchen in full swing. Low, pleasant acidity, hitting Brett notes as fresh, juicy peach carries through. Restrained acidity, dry and pleasant finish. Approachable for any level of beer drinker.

Yazoo Brewing A Travers Le Plateau Fruité

Solid aroma of sour cherry, light leathery funk and oak tannins, low caramel and toast malt, light oaky vanilla with moderate balanced acidity. Mild cheesy notes. Off-dry in finish, cherry and funky notes linger.

Glutenberg American Pale Ale

**Aroma:** “A bit of candy sweetness on the nose with a pleasant grapefruit and resiny hops aroma. Light floral hops notes, a bit soapy. Hops character is dominant in the nose. Grassy sweet notes. Some spiced and earthy character. A malt-like grainy sweetness with a hint of roast.” **Flavor:** “Citrusy American hops flavors, mostly grapefruit and pine, with a supporting candy-like sweetness. Finish is crisp, dry, and bitter but not out of balance. Carbonation and dryness accentuate the hops character. High carbonation and dry finish. Medium body with a lightly roasted grainiess that is almost malty. The hoppiness is reminiscent of an APA with a decent bitterness and a hint of citrus hoppiness. Some unusual esters, apples and pear.” **Overall:** “For hopheads venturing down the gluten-free route, this is one of the best options out there. This is a very tasty gluten-free version of an APA. Nice citrus hops character that is accentuated by the crisp, dry finish of the base beer. Bitter finishes the beer dry. Gluten-free character isn't offensive or astringent and doesn't come through as cider, allowing the nice hops character to come through. The hops profile is right where you'd expect, and it manages an almost malt-like profile.”
