What the brewers say

“Double dry-hopped hazy IPA with Nelson, Mosaic, and Citra hops.”

What our panel thought

“Weedy profile connects with supporting cast of woody-earthy-soil in fresh pellet form. Confident approach and overall soft balance allow hops to shine. Bitterness has an astringency that lets the beer down. Some alcohol burn. A bit too harsh in the finish.”

What our editors thought

“Vibrant pineapple-guava nose, crisp tropical edge, giving way to a silky, slightly sweet, funky pineapple-guava sip. Pungent, punchy, bursting with energy.”

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

Prison City Double Doink

Ripe tropical fruit basket: guava, mango, pineapple, papaya. Dominant tropical hop flavor, though less intense than expected; undertones of spicy pepper, light oak. Mouthfeel a bit thin. Finishes mostly dry, some harsher finishing notes, alcohol lingering a bit.

Alvarado Street Brewery Riwaka, Baby!

“Muted aroma with slight fruity hop notes and a low counterpoint of toasty malt. Flavor has a slight cinnamon note on top of the medium citrus and a malt presence that provides balance. Nice roundness to the mouthfeel. Medium bitterness.”

King Harbor Brewing Co Tidal Distortion

“Mango, peach, orange on the nose; a decent garlic-and-onion sneaks in there to distract from the fruitiness. Body is light for the ABV. Balances well against the bitterness. Finishes clean with a moderate, clean, lingering bitterness.”
