What the brewers say

“Double-decocted Vienna lager.”

What our panel thought

“Clean floral and soapy hop aromatics emerge over the top of subtle bread and crackery malt in the nose. Hint of citrus hops. A bit light in the roast character, but the balance is spot on with floral and perfume-forward bitterness complemented by a supportive clean malt body.”

What our editors thought

“Modern fruit-forward hop notes in the nose, orange and orange-blossom bolstered by sweet malt. Tighter in the sip, as the floral notes lean more classic, with slight malt sweetness that fades into a lingering floral bitterness. Well-paced.”

Ecliptic Brewing Ecliptic + Ravenna Juicy Lager

“Mango and pineapple up front. Passion fruit, mango, and a hint of orange drive the flavor profile. A light saltine malt palate allows the hops to shine. Medium-low astringency puts the brakes on the fruit train. Overall, a little clunky.”

Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. Danish Red Lager

“Deep golden to light amber in color, brilliantly clear with a full head that sticks around. Light graham cracker character in the aroma and taste. Classic malty nose with hints of honey, toast, light citrus, and perfume. Medium to full mouthfeel; smooth, sweet malty character, with hints of toast, dark bread and balanced Noble hops. A clean muted bitter finish leaves a great impression. Great traditional European qualities to this one. Very well balanced and smooth. Easy-drinking, but full-flavored with a skillful balance.”

Twin Barns Brewing Company Pitou Vienna Lager

“Bold floral and perfume-like hop notes in the aroma emerge out of subtle hints of bread and cracker malt. The malt flavors of cracker and light toast support a well-balanced dose of floral and soapy bitterness. Finishes clean and crisp with just enough lingering bitterness.”
