What the brewers say

Explosively juicy. Refreshingly light. Big notes of grapefruit and clementine. Generously dry hopped with Mosaic and Ella.

What our panel thought

Big, woody pine in the nose. Well-balanced flavor is piney, juicy, citrusy, and bitter, with some dankness as it warms. Just enough malt to hold it together. Nice throwback combo of piney and citrus hops. Excellent. Enjoyed this one immensely.

What our editors thought

Aroma of tangerine, lemon, baked fennel-onion tart. The sip is incredibly light, its bitter edge more West Coast than New England. That light body accentuates earthier, more herbal hops at the expense of citrus, but it also makes the next sip easier.

Bend Brewing Co Killer Stashe: Amarillo

Bready malt buoys a mild wash of herbal hops in the nose—a touch of pine, a tad dank, with citrus background. In the flavor, bread crust and a hint of sweetness carry the beer to dryness. The herbal hop character expands with some spicy notes and a fruity ester. Refreshing, approachable. Exemplary. I could have one of these every day.

King Harbor Brewing Co Crew Provisions

“Every pale ale should be a celebration of hops; this beer clearly wants to wave that flag. Pine, grapefruit. and tangerine form a warm mélange, and a perfect touch of malt-and-ester punch carries the hops without taking the foreground.”

Night Shift Brewing, Inc Hoot Blood Orange Mango

Crystal clear. Aroma bursts with blood orange; mango is more subtle. Orange flavor is a little muddled; some floral notes. Medium-high carbonation is a bit lacking. Flavor seems a little generic.
