Old Thunder Brewing False Kingdom

What the brewers say

“Our house IPA brewed with a blend of American hops.”

What our panel thought

“Alluring aroma: loads of peach, apricot, pineapple, watermelon, orange, lemon; hints of strawberry and pine. Flavor is a more subdued tropical fruit; pronounced resinous elements with a sufficient malt body and soft mouthfeel, but it’s dialed back compared to the aromatic vibrancy. Clean, hop-driven finish with a touch of bitterness.”

What our editors thought

“Light huskiness in the aroma, with bits of guava and passion fruit. Tropical notes persist in the not-quite-sweet sip—light, with an equally light balancing bitterness.”

Old Thunder Brewing A Glimmer in the Oak

“Big bourbon aroma rolls off the glass, pulling some medium chocolate notes behind. Full bourbon flavor dominates, with low oak, dark cherry, vanilla notes.”

Old Thunder Brewing Burned & Broken

“Deep rich caramel, dark fruit, toast aroma. Mild chocolate and dried apricot. Rich caramel and toasty flavor. Chocolate and fig finish with a touch of hop bitterness.”

Old Thunder Brewing The Power of Ink

“Lemon zest and floral notes in the aroma balanced by bready and cracker malt elements. Lovely soft water brightness throughout. Clean malt flavors combine with citrus and fruity hops to create a sip that leans a little sweet. Malt is elegant with refined biscuit and pie-crust flavors. Great drinkability and beautiful complexity.”
