Perennial Artisan Ales Something in the Orange

What the brewers say

“With Sabro Cryo, Citra, Centennial hops.”

What our panel thought

“A pillowy head invites you in for a tame lemonade, candied tangerine, tea-like aroma. Little maltiness, and a surprisingly muted flavor of black tea and fruit punch. Well-balanced mouthfeel. Finishes very dry.”

What our editors thought

“A sharp Cointreau-like note in the aroma structures the voluminous citrus, with a light woodiness. A vanilla-like softness in the flavor furthers the suggestion of barrel, but it finishes with a woody tannic kick and far more fight than one would typically expect in the style. Irreverent and audacious.”

Brewskey Pub & Taproom Singularity Citra

“Funky overripe melon and pineapple in the nose. A firm bitterness, some dank, diesel hop flavor followed by fresh melon. Just a slight sharpness fades away into softer flavors and a lasting sweeter finish.”

North Park Beer Co. Inversion of Time

“Dank-forward aromatics with sweet tropical-fruit undertones. In the sip, a supportive dose of pine and booze to balance. Some sweet heat stays fairly well-hidden. Maintains balance thanks to a supportive malt structure and soft mouthfeel.”

Perennial Artisan Ales Visions: Piña Colada

“Fresh kiwi in the aroma. Assertive citrus notes in the taste—orange, lemon—along with pineapple and spicy, overripe mango. Some bitterness, but balance is toward the sweet end. Smooth, honeyed middle and a quick finish on the dry side. Fun and different. Creative.”
