pFriem Family Brewers Pale Ale

What the brewers say

Go beyond the pale, with aromas of berry and citrus, notes of mango, cantaloupe, and a crisp, full, finish.

What our panel thought

Nice, intensely dank hop aroma, toeing the West Coast IPA line. On the sip, dankness yields to onion/leek, with enough bready malt to carry it and soften the assertive, West Coast bitterness. Aftertaste expands into pine. Nice body. Finishes dry and clean.

What our editors thought

Decidedly dank nose mashed with citrus punch and bits of spruce and cannabis. On the sip, a confident and cogent body supports a modern hop approach, feeling classic while pushing into the future. Light, simple, characterful.

pFriem Family Brewers Extra Pale

“Dank and terpene-soaked, the hop character is buoyed by clean malt and a mild floral ester. The first impression is that the beer needs to be more bitter, but the slow build of the bitter finish convinces you soon enough.”

pFriem Family Brewers Pilsner

Gentle but distinct floral-herbal hop nose marries sweet cracker-malt and a welcome whiff of sulfur. Lightly bready malt body amply supports perfume-like hop flavor and an ambitious but refined bitterness, all the way to a dry finish. Bold bitterness lingers. Hand me a full liter.

pFriem Family Brewers Pilsner

**Aroma:** “A sulfury matchstick note hits up front, but is nicely balanced by the Pilsner maltiness and flowery hops. A subtle but unique herbal, earthy hops character, as well as some floral hops notes.” **Flavor:** “A nice delicate biscuit sweetness that gives way to a floral, herbal, and citrus hops flavor. The hops hit in the middle and provide some complexity and bitterness. Nice carbonation that ends with a clean, dry finish.” **Overall:** “Clean and refreshing, a very enjoyable light Pilsner. Great hops complexity with sweet malt in the back. Impressive balance, and super quaffable.”
