Prairie Artisan Ales Rainbow Sherbet

What the brewers say

“Summer-forward sour ale with raspberry, pineapple, and orange.”

What our panel thought

“Candied-orange, tropical fruit, and berry aroma, like a mixed bag of hard candies. Candied orange notes carry into the flavor, with additional notes of pineapple, candied raspberry, and tangerine. Strong fruit character throughout. Acidity rounds the edges into an enjoyable package. Overall impression of fruit sherbet in beer form.”

What our editors thought

“The fruit-forward nose screams ‘summer’ as familiar flavors evoke agua fresca or big, bright smoothies. Sip is intense, pushing beer aside for a singular fruit experience.”

Inbound Brewco To Be Continued. . .Blueberry Lemonade

“A kind of generic, middle-of-the-road fruited sour. Unassuming nose, noticeable lemon with some subtle underlying berry, and a dry, tart finish accentuated with lively effervescence. Very light grainy beer notes. Pleasant, but nothing particularly distinctive.”

Servaes Passionfruit Distant Light

“Looks like fruit juice, smells like guava juice with sulfur, tastes like sweet-and-sour guava juice. It’s thick, and the cloying sweetness doesn’t seem to want to go away. Super-yeasty nose, cut with orange pulp. Smoothie is right—they’ve nailed the mouthfeel and the salt adds to the creaminess.”

Green Bench Turbid 9

Aroma: Fruity citrus aroma with pineapple and lemon. Light bitterness with a touch of malt sweetness. Flavor: Initial sip has light bitterness overall with a chewy body. Lemon citrus flavors mix with a light sulfur note in the chewy body. Light body overall and fairly simple. A touch of bitterness grows slightly towards the end of the sip. Fairly simple and not too complex. Overall: A light, welcoming New England-style IPA with a chewy body and citrus fruits without being too heavy or sweet. Good balance of hop bitterness and flavor.
