Westbound & Down Brewing Company Westbound IPA

What the brewers say

“Juicy pineapple, mango, Cara Cara oranges, white-wine grapes followed by a touch of grapefruit-rind bitterness.”

What our panel thought

“Red berry, lemon, orange, cherry throughout the aroma with herbal, spicy black-pepper notes. Light bread dough in both the aroma and flavor. Quite herbal with light spicy phenolics. Smooth, moderate bitterness lingers and plays well with the fruity sweetness.”

What our editors thought

“Bright, citrusy, bready, punchy nose. Pithy bitterness sells the lingering warming orange note. A bit light overall, trading intensity for drinkability.”

Westbound & Down Brewing Company Juice Caboose

“Bright lemony notes comprise the aroma with hints of pepper-like spice, pine, woodiness. The lemony character carries into the flavor, complemented by a light malt sweetness and touches of pepper, herbal spice, and a light earthy note. Light bitterness carries through into the finish.”

Upslope Brewing Company - Flatiron Park Spiked Snowmelt Grapefruit & Hops

“Earthy citrus nose of lemongrass and orange zest takes you on a different journey than you expect from a seltzer. A little bitterness counteracts a little too much artificial sweetness. Would benefit from more carbonation to liven things and provide more balance. Delicate, different, and enjoyable.”

Hacienda Beer Co Soul Memory

“Roast and chocolate-malt aroma notes with a hint of smoke that jumps out of the glass. The bitter roast flavor comes across more coffee-forward with a subtle bitter cacao note lingering. Clean and crisp, but heavy roast notes create an impression of heft more perceived than real. Finishes bitter but not harsh.”
