Wise Man Brewing Merry World

What the brewers say

“Breakfast stout with coffee and cacao nibs.”

What our panel thought

“Floral, fruity coffee aromas with hints of mint and dark chocolate. First taste has a pleasantly light, nutty sweetness, but it’s quickly overtaken by significant roast bitterness that dominates through the finish. Chewy body and carbonation.”

What our editors thought

“Slightly smoky note in the aroma, with a toasted herb and meat note. Smooth bitterness and slightly watery body in the sip feel underplayed after the bold nose.”

Wise Man Brewing Pocket Gold

“Solid biscuit and pie-crust malt aroma with a hint of caramel; lovely spicy and floral hops, light apricot esters. Malt dominance continues in the flavor: pie crust and light toast with a hint of brown sugar. Earthy, woody, spearmint hop notes. A bit sweet but balanced well by the spicy hop bitterness. Finishes mostly dry.”

Wise Man Brewing Cherish It

Chocolate, caramel, roast, and coffee-like malt aromas jump out of the glass with subtle hints of vanilla and woody hops. The flavor leans more singularly on the roast aspects and, while clean and crisp, it seems to lack enough body to hold everything together.

Wise Man Brewing Weeks Work

“Caramel and toffee dominate the nose with low-level red-apple esters. Flavor is malt-forward but not overly sweet. Light spicy hops. Slight roast character in the finish. Light-bodied. Dry finish with lingering roastiness.”
