Wren House Brewing Company Wrenovation New Zealand

What the brewers say

“Bursting with notes of orange zest, pine, floral pink grapefruit.”

What our panel thought

“Subtle aromatics of peach, grape, tropical fruit. The fruity elements carry forward into the flavor to join tangy-tart clementine, but the impression of sweetness is balanced by a nice firm bitterness that emerges mid-palate and lingers well into the dry but crisp finish.”

What our editors thought

“Pink guava and orange in the aroma with a light thiol edge. Crisp mineral and tropical pith notes in the flavor with light fruit edges, zippy and direct.”

Wren House Brewing Company Big Spill Pils

“Southern Hemisphere hop nose: white pepper, overripe fruit, white grapes, floral. Aroma alone is worth the price of admission. Base pils is crisp, to the point. Light suggestion of sweetness well balanced by the hops. Slightly dry in the finish.”

The Big Friendly Far West Coast

Nice sappy resinous aromas, followed by some citrus aromas, toasted sugar, and blueberry. Orange lemon hops are joined by pineapple and a bit of grassy dankness. Ribbon candied sweetness with a clean finish. The softly sweet finish of each sip begs for a slightly sharper edge.

Hop Butcher For the World Only Interested in New Zealand

“Citrus hop nose with kiwi and strawberry. Vivid hop flavors lean stone fruit with a citrus component. Malt structure provides the stage to let the hops sing. Layered finish with bright hop notes and enough bitterness to cut through and clear the palate.”
