Yazoo Brewing Co Brett Saison

What the brewers say

“Brewed with Amarillo/Saaz hops, pils, rye, oats. Conditioned with Brett.”

What our panel thought

“Citrus, pineapple, with notes of hay/alfalfa at the outset. Minty and stemlike note. A bit of dried apricot. A pleasant graininess starts the sip: some Triscuit-like flavors, plus lemony wheat.”

What our editors thought

“Strong aromas of wet concrete, slate, pineapple rind, charcoal, and dried flowers. Far more conventional in the flavor, with very mild acidity, a wheaty substantial body, and tropical-fruit highlights around the floral bitter finish.”

Yazoo Brewing Co Octatonic

“Light gold color, good clarity, low tight head. Aroma of red apple, citrus, some tropical notes. Nice mix of light fruit esters. Lightly tart flavors, with lots of interesting fruit esters. Light hop bitterness and lively carbonation.”

Yazoo Brewing Co. Saison de Bois

Spicy, funky nose, with red fruit, minty phenols, overripe mango, tangerine, lemon. Citrus-juicy sweetness up front, moderate sourness; pleasant white grape, pear. Dry, woodsy finish adds to white-wine impression. Lively.

Blackberry Farm Brewery Mixed Culture Brett Saison

“Restrained nose, sweet and slightly savory with ginger, scallion or chive blossom, sake wine. Citrus more apparent in the flavor: pineapple, orange, pear. Herbal hops add complexity. Fruity accentuated by tart, not quite sour, notes.”
