Libby Murphy’s Special Stash is a darker-than-dark oatmeal stout with a bit of sweet, a bit of roast, and a bit of cinnamon and gooey molasses. You’ll want to hoard it all for yourself!

ALL-GRAIN

OG: 1.068
FG: 1.017
IBUs: 25
ABV: 6.6%

MALT/GRAIN BILL

10 lb (4.5 kg) Maris Otter
1 lb (454 g) flaked oats
8 oz (227 g) chocolate malt
8 oz (227 g) roasted barley
8 oz (227 g) Victory malt
4 oz (113 g) Black Patent malt

HOPS AND ADDITIONS SCHEDULE

1 oz (28 g) Magnum [12% AA] at 60 minutes
5 cinnamon sticks at 5 minutes
1 cup Black Treacle Molasses at flameout

YEAST

1 package White Labs WLP017 Whitbread Ale Yeast

DIRECTIONS

Mash at 154°F (68°C) for 60 minutes, then boil for 60 minutes, following the hops and additions schedule.

Ferment at 68°F (20°C) until final gravity is reached (about 2 weeks).

BREWER’S NOTES

If you like a roastier oatmeal stout, you can lightly toast your flaked oats before brewing.
