What the brewers say

"Belgian-inspired stout that balances light notes of fruit and sweetness with roasty malt."

What our panel thought

“Brown pour with a soft tan head. Light chocolate aromas supported by light fruit notes. Earthy and piney hop notes. Soft and airy body floats across the palate with different layers intersecting: caramel, chocolate, bubblegum, and light fruit esters. A light piney bitterness lingers well into the sweet, round finish with some roast coming through.”

What our editors thought

“Slightly vegetal note on the nose upsets the flow, but in the sip, very subtle fermentation esters offer a fruity reprieve.”

Lakefront Brewery Inc My Turn Series: AL American Stout

“Solid head that retains well. Light on the roast character on the nose. Medium coffee and chocolate malt flavor. Pleasant toast, nutty malt character in the middle with a softly fruity (pear, cherry) underlying sweetness. A brown beer flirting with some stout tendencies?”

TRVE Brewing Company Stout O)))

Hints of smoke mingle with the roast-malt aroma along with hops notes of pine and earthy dankness. The smoke character carries through and increases slightly in the flavor. Coupled with a bit of pine hops bitterness and slight minerality, it creates the impression of thinness. Finishes dry and mildly bitter, but not harsh.

Central Standard Brewing Gamma Squeeze

Heady bud nose, bright, with a slight tinge of lime. Flavor is like hop juice, a fistfight between tropical fruit and bitterness; skunky, gassy, with light licorice and a slight burn. A bit muddy. Super creative, even for an inherently creative style.
