What the brewers say

“Hazy double IPA dry hopped with Citra, Galaxy, Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, and Comet.”

What our panel thought

“Lemon-tangerine aroma; hints of pepper-like spice, green onion, touch of pine. OJ-forward sweetness in the sip fades to reveal pepper, garlic, pine, light woodiness. Mouthfeel lacks softness to round the rough edges. Finish is a bit disjointed and nondescriptly bittersweet.”

What our editors thought

“New Zealand hop nose with sweet hints around the edges—a bit louche, in a slushy-by-the-pool way. The sip seems oddly unbalanced, sweet, without the structured notes to offset it.”

BKS Artisan Ales Space Nelson

“Ripe red fruit and dank aroma with a cannabis-like quality. Flavors of peaches, mandarin orange, and a touch of dank. Sweetness and bitterness are nicely balanced. Doesn’t stay on the tongue too long and leaves you wanting more.”

BKS Artisan Ales Current Past (Blue Label)

“Punchy from the get-go. Nose is a strong blend of hop pellets, Lemonheads, white grapes. The flavor is similar but with less dimension. Biscuit malt flavors are a canvas for fruity/piney/slightly herbaceous hops. Firm and satisfying bitterness. Leans sweet, with a full mouthfeel.”

BKS Artisan Ales Counterculture

“On the nose, tropical notes of passion fruit and mango blend with dank, earthy aromas. Dank, earthy, and herbal spicy flavors come to the fore, supported by a light malt sweetness and soft mouthfeel. The initial bitterness fades quickly in the finish but slowly re-emerges as it lingers on your palate.”
