Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company Street Punk Stout

What the brewers say

"Coffee and chocolate forward American style stout."

What our panel thought

“Espresso and dark chocolate in the aroma. Solid malt, lots of toast, deep, sweet chocolate, and hints of coffee balanced with some assertive hop bitterness. Roasty malt falls off the palate nicely but leaves a hint of peppery spice. Not subtle or delicate by any stretch, but stout is a style that can embrace some of these edgy qualities.”

What our editors thought

“Simple roasty nose, with slightly ashy note. The sip is sweeter and softer with gentle chocolate ripples, but the sharp, ashy roast notes deny that pleasure.”

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company Marshmallow Milk Stout

“Sweet, sticky white sugar dominates the aroma with a touch of milk chocolate supporting. Medium body balances the high sweetness of the candy-like marshmallow. Pronounced roast malt and bitter chocolate in the flavor.”

Single Hill Brewing Company Reserve - Osa Major

“Alcoholic heat in the nose obscures hints of roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Booze carries into the flavor, stripping away more subtle complexities. Roasty, smoky, with pleasantly malty profile.”

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company Schwarzenegger

“Floral and soapy hop aromatics are complemented by a gentle roasty malt profile with hints of chocolate and light coffee. The gentleness of the roast character carries through into the flavor creating a wonderful balance without acrid bitterness, all in a clean and crisp body. Each element subtly contributes to a full-flavored but delicate beer, pulling it together beautifully.”
