New Image Brewing Co Fruitlegger - Hawaiian Bonfire

What the brewers say

“Fruited sour ale with pineapple, lemon juice, and jalapeño.”

What our panel thought

“Round, juicy pineapple and smoked chiles dance in both the aroma and the flavor. Lip-tingling waves of heat are quite pronounced with acid and capsaicin teaming up, but the sweetness of the fruit softens the bite. The lemon stays in hiding until the finish, but it offers a nice final statement.”

What our editors thought

“Smoky grilled pineapple on the nose, sweet-sour sip with an intense pepper heat. Unusual, but alluring, as the pepper heat heightens the perception of the sweeter fruit.”

Around The Horn Brewing Company Fluffy Tutu

“Vanilla and tropical-fruit flavors greet the nose. Firm tartness in the flavor, passion fruit follows, with lemon, vanilla, strawberry sweetness balanced nicely with the amount of sourness. Fruit pleasantly lingers on the tongue in the finish.”

Elevation Beer Company Summerville

“The aroma rocks—bright hibiscus up front and then lime in the follow through. Both hibiscus and lime on the palate. Floral and somewhat spicy notes. Crazy refreshing, cleanly fermented. You could sit in a pool floaty and crush this.”

New Image Brewing Co Noema B3

“Nutmeg adds an interesting complexity to the aroma yielding sweet vermouth, wintergreen. Cinnamon flavor up front; licorice, spearmint, nutmeg toward the end that blends with a significant heat, medium finish. A thick and chewy experience that coats the tongue and lingers. Interesting, different, tasty.”
