What the brewers say

"We hand-selected a single oak barrel of mature Golden Sour and dry-hopped it with Nelson Sauvin and Motueka."

What our panel thought

"Fresh citrus-forward hops jump out of the glass, atop berries, pineapple, black pepper, lime, lemon. Tropical hops complement complex esters. Light, soft body with layers of salinity, lemon, light bread, lingering funk. Softly tart, with soft waves of fruit; low malt sweetness brings out overripe pineapple; lingering tropical fruit in aftertaste. Low white-wine character in background. Very refreshing. Well-balanced, with medium fermentation complexity and delicate contributions from barrel aging. Would be a nice post workout/activity beer with character."

What our editors thought

"Gorgeous fruity hops note balances against a light yeasty hit. The sip is light as a feather, with a very light Brett component and more significant wine-barrel fruit and vanilla notes."

Funk Factory Geuzeria The Last Four Winters...

Citrus and light berry esters, layered atop fresh-mown hay; inviting aromas that build anticipation. Whiffs of lemon, orange peel, vanilla, and touch of funk. Taste is more funky and tart than aroma suggests; sharp, earthy.

Uhl’s Brewing Co Blackberry * Peach Fruit Compote

“Red-orange, opaque smoothie. Fruity, creamy nose with strong vanilla, evoking beach cocktails or coconut-peach pie. Flavors of tropical fruit, peach, blackberry, coconut, vanilla. Restrained sourness. Round finish. Vanilla flirts with ‘artificial.’ Noticeable warming alcohol—Malibu rum.”

Cerebral Brewing Ambiguous Vibes

__Aroma:__ “Light citrus with a bit of lemon and tangerine. Bready and bread crust malt. *Brett brux [Brettanomyces bruxellensis]* funk with a very slight perfume and a honeydew melon–like ester profile (some cantaloupe too).” __Flavor:__ “The melon character really comes out in the flavor with the citrus more in the background. Honeydew and melon rind. A bit grassy. Wet hay *Brett* funk. Low sweetness and low-to-moderate bitterness. Some roundness from the chardonnay barrel adds another level of character. Finishes slightly sweet. Nice tropical fruit flavors (passion fruit, pineapple). Nice light very dry finish. Some white pepper notes in the finish.” __Overall:__ “Interesting citrus and melon character. The melon and funk blend well together, and both are complemented by the vanillin from the barrel. Very nice—great light fruit flavors, dry and refreshing. Just a touch of *Brett* to give it some interesting twists.”
