Wise Man Brewing Living For The Moment

What the brewers say

“Traditional English nut-brown ale with East Kent Goldings hops.”

What our panel thought

“Mild, smooth milk-chocolate aroma. Toasted dark-crust bread on the initial sip. Smooth, malty mouthfeel suggests white bread drizzled with caramel and candy sugar. A punch of sweetness adds complexity but limits the drinkability. Light and unpretentious. Finishes clean and well-rounded.”

What our editors thought

“Deep reddish-brown color and tan foam. Chocolate-chocolate-chip cookies in the aroma with a few extra caramel chips. Dark-chocolate bitterness in the sip with looser, less defined malt.”

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company Stuck in Reverse

“Aroma of white bread and toasted crusts evolves into brown-bread maltiness in the flavor. Stays a bit one-note. Perfect level of bitterness balances the malt, rounding out the overall impression. Light, highly quaffable, agreeably smooth. Barely toasted cool liquid.”

Civil Life Brewing Company American Brown Ale

“A woody, slightly smoky aroma rounded out by milk chocolate and dark bread. Light body for a sessionable mouthfeel. Hoppy bitterness grows and creates a drying finish. Ends clean and well punctuated, professionally constructed.”

Wise Man Brewing Living a Double Life

“Aroma is fairly light with notes of dark fruit and light toasty malt. Deeply mahogany with good clarity and a small but persistent head. Flavor is smooth and rich, with deep maltiness and strong dark fruit and cherry notes. Bitterness is low and balanced, keeping the finish from being overly sweet. Hops are minimal throughout. Very pleasant to drink.”
