10 Barrel Brewing Co. Crush Raspberry Sour

What the brewers say

“It’s tart like the fruit but also crisp and refreshing.”

What our panel thought

“Candy-like sweet jammy raspberry aroma, with a beautiful pink lasting head, creates anticipation. Luxurious raspberry aroma alongside tannins with a layer of vanilla. Bright, almost jammy raspberry-filling flavor coats the mouth. Acidity is noticeable but not harsh, and moderately full body is a canvas to showcase the fruit.”

What our editors thought

“A natural raspberry nose—soft and grounded—gives way to a bright sip with a bracing burst of lactic acidity, gently supported by tannic and sweet fruit notes. The perfect perception of sweetness in an otherwise dry beer.”

10 Barrel Brewing Co. Crush Cucumber Sour

“Sweet cucumber nose with a touch of watermelon juice and rind. Clean, gentle acidity tempered by earthy cucumber. Bright acidity helps cut some of the sweetness and maintain drinkability. Would like more carbonation, but overall well-executed.”

Decadent Creamery Blackberry Sorbet Gose

“Dark pink pour with an off-pink head. Tart, fresh aroma—ripe blackberries atop blackberry jam with a doughy malt backbone. The fruit overshadows the base beer but delivers on a full flavor explosion. Sweet fruit finish with a touch of astringency and nice level of acidity. Balanced, yet leaning sweet. Simple and well-made.”

New Terrain Brewing Co. Walk in the Parfait

“Citrus and berry abound with hints of lemon, grapefruit, raspberry, and blackberry. Semi-firm sour smoothie profile hits the mouth with notes of lemon and light raspberry, with vanilla tying things together. Lactose-driven body and mouthfeel complement berry-forward fruit flavors and temper the acidity.”
