Fonta Flora Brewery Bread Tree

What the brewers say

“Brown ale brewed with local roasted American chestnuts.”

What our panel thought

“Soft toast, coffee, and pie-crust malt aroma. Light woody/earthy hops. Hints of raisin. Simple malt flavor of toast, sweet cocoa, and pie crust. Medium light malt sweetness with light dry apricot and fig esters. Light hop bitterness. Finishes off dry with lots of flavorful malt lingering.”

What our editors thought

“Restrained aroma with a tight nutty tones and just a hint of grape candy. Very slight sweetness in the sip softens the woody malt structure.”

Brown Truck Brewery Wallonia Way Belgian Saison

“Nicely harmonized in the aroma—notes of light clove, chamomile tea, subtle lemon-lime-floral-herbal hop, soft grain, all melded together into an integrated ‘saison’ aroma, classy and familiar. Lightly sweet on the palate with a slightly resinous bitterness—tasting a little heavy-handed after such a restrained aroma. Wanting more sparkle and dryness in the finish.”

Fonta Flora Brewery Yuns Changed

“Initial sharp aroma fades relatively quickly, allowing subtle pine, tropical citrus, coconut, and light woody note to emerge. On the sip, malty sweetness and softness are quickly tempered by soft, pleasant bitterness, allowing flavors of coconut, banana, mango, pine, and earthy wood.”

Fonta Flora Brewery Crimson

“Aroma like hop flowers. Light acidity and woody notes. Light and crisp. The flowers are complementary, adding subtle herbal notes. Woody _Brett_ phenolics and stone-fruit esters round out the flavors. A classic wild ale with subtle herbal additions.”
