Melvin Brewing Eureka (House of Flying Barrels) Night Visions - Vanilla Latte

What the brewers say

"Imperial Stout brewed with lactose sugar and aged on Ugandan Vanilla beans and SUMP coffee."

What our panel thought

“Big dark-roast coffee aroma up front. Fairly subtle vanilla plays up the latte character. Roast and chocolate character in the flavor works well with the coffee. The beer is on and off your tongue surprisingly fast, with only a touch of coffee lingering.”

What our editors thought

“Huge coffee notes in the nose with a polished woody smooth edge. The sip is sweeter, trading away some of the expected roast bitterness for a general coffee-ness, and a round body that feels imprecise despite the sharp flavor components.”

Melvin Brewing Eureka (House of Flying Barrels) Death Muffin

“Vanilla aroma with coffee and cream. Deep-flavored fudge, vanilla, almond hit the palate first followed by subdued cinnamon, banana. Sweetness at the end quickly leaves the tongue. Hefty mouthfeel.”

Melvin Brewing Eureka (House of Flying Barrels) Assembled Armor

“Complex molasses, earthy tobacco, dark fudgy chocolate greet the nose. Layers of caramel malt remind you of the barleywine element. The flavor goes more milk chocolate, dough, intricate layers of dark fruits. Alcohol adds spice. Luscious sweetness closes the sip with chocolate-covered dates.”

Melvin Brewing Galactic Compass

“Sweet, sweaty dankness! Tropical fruit, citrus, and spicy alcohol are second chair. Orange peel, lemon, passion fruit, and strawberry mingle with pine and a light dankness to create a complex and inviting nose. Green tea–like bitterness in the assertively bitter finish.”
