PINTA Barrel Brewing Superiority

What the brewers say

“With cocoa nibs, maple syrup, and cinnamon aged in bourbon and rum barrels.”

What our panel thought

“Subtle spicy, fudgy, and alcoholic aroma. Totally tastes like a dark fruitcake soaked in rum and bourbon. A fun and flavorful beer with spicy fruity flavors and smooth alcohol. Big and full-bodied with a sweetness throughout.”

What our editors thought

“Sweet and spicy aroma with strong barrel notes and musty cinnamon with a floral highlight. Strong Mexican-style hot chocolate vibe in the flavor, medium sweet but not too thick, with minimal bitterness.”

PINTA Barrel Brewing Immensity

“Big cocoa-powder aroma, with notes of bourbon, coffee, vanilla in both aroma and flavor, steeped in a bed of dangerously smooth aged alcohol. Vanilla sweetness is rich and rounded, followed by some wood tannins. Finishes bittersweet.”

Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery Bourbon Barrel Oil of Aphrodite

**Aroma:** “Chocolate, umami, light fenugreek and maple syrup. Moderate alcohol up front with slight fruity plum note reminiscent of Belgium esters. Roast malt, caramel, and vanilla. Some alcohol. Almost like vanilla coke with a light shot of Kahlua.” **Flavor:** “Coffee roast character is soft and sweet and buoyed by a fair amount of caramel and chocolate and some nice nutty elements. Moderate vanilla and light leather. Coffee with a touch of rum and a shot of vanilla cream soda.” **Overall:** “Big chocolate/mocha stout with bourbon. Touches of coffee and dark chocolate, but mostly sweet chocolate and bourbon. Fair bit of pleasant ethanol warming throughout. A good, enjoyable, easy-drinking stout.”

PINTA Barrel Brewing Liberty (2024)

“In the aroma, vanilla, bourbon, milk chocolate, and coconut balance the robust coffee notes. A fudge-like chocolate note complements the earthy coconut and vanilla flavors. A boozy, rich finish.”
