What the brewers say

"Massive orange-citrus aroma gives way to notes of juicy peach and cantaloupe. Not aged with fruit, this beer is a study in the intersection of Lactobacillus and hops."

What our panel thought

"Huge resinous, almost grassy, hops aroma. The hops flavor is shackled to a rambunctious sourness, and neither one is at ease with the forced partnership."

What our editors thought

"A woodsy, earthy hops note and roasted peanuts on the nose girds the expected citrus hops, adding dimension, but the diminutive malt character does little to support the big fermentation and hops notes layered on top of it."

Westbound & Down Brewing Company Colorado Pale Ale

“Orange-forward nose with a dash of spice. Fresh citrus hop notes on the retronasal. Lightly sweet malt background, fresh white bread. Soft pale body elevates the orange and lemon hop flavors. Captivating conclusion brings an elevated bitterness together with the semisweet plump flavor.”

Brewery Vivant Space Traveler

Aroma: Tropical fruits, orange, tangerine, peach, slightly earthy & dank. Slightly solvent. Flavor: High carbonation and chalky and they amplify one another. Orange, peach, lemon a touch of mint and pine wood, with strong mint on the exhalation. It finishes with medium bitterness and more chalkiness. Overall: This is the beer for the thinker. It makes you concentrate and carefully try to identify all the various flavors. It was like trying to identify all the instruments in an orchestra, when you carefully experience them there is so many to appreciate.

Broad Brook Brewing Company Chit's & Giggles Pale Ale

“Dank, earthy, lightly tropical hops. Malt aroma is sweet, caramel. Full and smooth malt flavors, with lingering sweetness into the finish. Hop bitterness is restrained, balancing. The malt bolsters the mouthfeel. It’s a pale ale that suggests the lazy days of summer.”
