Elevation Beer Oil Man Imperial Stout

What the brewers say

"Notes of bourbon, oak, chocolate, tobacco, and licorice."

What our panel thought

"Barrel-forward with up-front vanilla, dark fruit, alcohol, bittersweet chocolate, toasted marshmallow. Sweet flavor, creamy, fading into bitterness and warmth. Aggressive barrel but with the malty bones to support it. Chocolate liqueur character. Big, unrefined, complex, and good for sharing."

What our editors thought

"Wafty bourbon nose with a wide reach—wet dog, damp forest, toasted cinnamon, vanillin. The sip pushes prune and fig touches, with rich esters underpinning dark chocolate."

Elevation Beer Company Coconut Oil Man

“Chocolate, marshmallow, and a hint of caramel balanced by hints of oak-like vanilla and a touch of coconut in the aroma. Pronounced vanilla and coconut in the flavor complement the chocolate malt, with a touch of oak and a nice boozy warmth in the finish to round things out.”

Urban Roots Brewing & Smokehouse Demons Run Coconut Vanilla

“Notes of coconut in the aroma are balanced by hints of cinnamon, chocolate, coffee. The coconut dominates the flavor (with hints of roast marshmallow, chocolate) but an earthy coconut-water element supports the sweeter coconut-flesh notes. Booziness strips away some of the nuance.”

2nd Shift Brewing Chico's Revenge

Delicate but rich, roasty, complex nose; notes of anise, chocolate. Candy-like sweetness shifts gradually toward malt-driven chocolate and vanilla. Runs gamut of bitter roast, rich sweet chocolate, hints of dried fruit. Pleasant, tongue-coating body. Round, velvety finish. Sweet, but with enough character to back it up.
