What the brewers say

"Double-mashed stout aged in Four Roses barrels for more than a year."

What our panel thought

"Oddly fruity—grape bubblegum or soda, strawberry hints—with toasted nut, vanilla, oak, chocolate. In the flavor: less fruit, more chocolate—on the sweet side. Nice malt complexity: a spectrum of chocolate, coffee, dried fruit, toffee. Subdued barrel. Alcohol not too harsh. A bit cloying, but rich, complex."

What our editors thought

"Big chocolate nose, braced by spicy bourbon, raisin. The sip pushes sweeter, amplifying raisin and fig. Vanilla-caramel note lingers deep into the finish."
