Aspen Brewing Company Silver City Ale

What the brewers say

“A subtly kettle-soured session ale. Tart lemon and citrus flavor leaves you wanting more.”

What our panel thought

Aroma: “A touch soapy on the nose, with some tart lactic notes. Some apple sweetness sits in the back, with light malt sweetness and a touch of honey. Hints of tartness could be there, but they’re very light. A floral aroma conbined with a very slight spicy pine note.”

Flavor: “Moderate graininess up front. Light body is a bit thin but refreshing. Very slight tartness with some dry apple-like fruit notes, akin to a dry cider with a crisp finish. Medium carbonation and light body, with some malty biscuit notes that balance the tartness. Light and subtle lactic sour toward the end of the sip that lingers longer than expected.”

Overall: “Very pronounced grain and roasty character up front and a sweet and slightly salty mix going on. The delicate apple notes provide some crisp sweetness throughout. It’s very drinkable, light, and refreshing.”
