What the brewers say

“Cloaked in mystery, this black lager is brewed with traditional Old World ingredients and cutting-edge lagering techniques. The perfect balance between old and new.”

What our panel thought

Aroma: “Rich smoked malt up front with underlying toasty and rich malt. Subtle earthy hops. Hints of coffee, bitter chocolate, and a touch of smoked bacon.”

Flavor: “More smoke with underlying toasty malt. Nice malt flavors. Some toasty chocolate notes. A touch of sweetness in the start that is well- balanced out in the finish.”

Overall: “A balanced black lager with a touch of sweeter chocolate notes to balance out some of the roasty and smoky elements. The smoke adds complexity to an otherwise simple beer. If you appreciate smoke and want something that displays smoke but is still simple and easy-to-drink, you will really enjoy this beer.”
