Drake's Brewing Co. Crispy Boi Lager

What the brewers say

“Hopped with a combination of Chinook, Mosaic, and German Amarillo for an aroma redolent of bright citrus, stone fruit, and pine.”

What our panel thought

“Super-dank nose; bright citrus. Big burst of flavor; clean pale malt provides a honey-like base for resinous hops to play. Fades fast and dry. Somewhat one dimensional—but quite a good dimension.”

What our editors thought

“Bright tropical-hops nose, swimming in papaya and guava. The sip captures more tropical-hop magic. Light structural bitterness for support; thoughtful malt sweetness highlights fruity hops without overstepping.”

Mash Lab Brewing Crispy Boi Pilsner

“Initial sulfur character, but not out of place. Water cracker, Noble hops. Hop bitterness is a touch low; malt sweetness a touch high. A little on the watery side; could use just a little more body. Clean. Soft. Needs more bitterness.”

Castle Island Brewing Co. Strange Arrangement

“Tropical hop nose; orange, grapefruit. Flavor bomb of tropical hops, OJ, slight bitterness on the end. Fairly resinous and hop-sweet; hops coat the tongue, while malt is present enough to balance things out and make the finish work. Bright, refreshing. Would happily put a sixer in the fridge.”

North Park Infinite Content

Peach, blueberry, mango combination suggests light vanillin complexity. Flavor is enjoyable, with sweet orange, strawberry, lemon, grapefruit pith, and pine. Soft and sweet, low bitterness. Very light hop burn on the tail end. Finishes dry and bitter. Brings you back for another sip.
