Highland Park Brewery Timbo Pils

What the brewers say

“We took inspiration for this West Coast hoppy pilsner from both German pilsners and West Coast IPAs.”

What our panel thought

“Big citrus-tropical hops up front; tangerine, pineapple, pine. Dank West Coast punch overwhelms nose and flavor—yet it’s clean and drinkable. Bready malt tucked behind the hops. Starts slightly sweet and fades, with tame bitterness that pushes the fruity hop notes forward.”

What our editors thought

“Light but incredibly bright; soft, luxurious citrus-hop nose. Economical body without an ounce of fat. Assertively understated, hoppy, yet very drinkable beer.”

Highland Park Brewery DDH Crosbo Pils

“Fruity notes of strawberry and candied peach blend with subtle piney and floral aromatics for a compelling, complex nose. Fruity impression of sweetness in the initial sip is balanced by a floral and soapy bitter counterpoint. Culminates in a clean, crisp, lightly bitter finish.”

Green Cheek Beer Company It Just Works

“Very clean and well-made, with restrained but effective ingredient choices. Pours a clear, almost brilliant yellowish deep straw—very attractive. While not over the top in terms of hop aroma and flavor, it does have a solid bittering punch with a long, dry finish and hoppy aftertaste. Medium grassy grapefruit and slight piney, both in aroma and flavor, with no conflicting malt character—the hops are the star without being in your face. Hop flavor is slightly restrained, creating such a nice presentation. Quite an approachable IPA that does not disappoint.”

Firestone Walker Brewing Co Welcome to LA

“Intriguing hop aroma—New World tropical vs. classic Noble. Light-bodied, almost brut. Delicate, fruity, soft, with a squeaky-clean and dry lager finish. Lingering subtle hop character is unexpected, but it hits the spirit of a light, refreshing beer with complex hop aroma.”
