Untitled Art / 2nd Shift New Zealand Pilsner
What the brewers say
“Italian-style pilsner made with all New Zealand hops (Dr. Rudy, Southern Cross, and Nelson Sauvin).”
What our panel thought
“Tropical hop aroma; citrus, herbs, green apple, spearmint. Flavor sweeter and mouthfeel heavier than expected, but tropical notes are delightful. Malt backbone helps stand up to these hops. Like lager hop juice.”
What our editors thought
“Pungent nose of lemongrass, ginger, pepper, coconut, and tropical fruit; could be a thoughtful pairing for Asian dishes. Sip mellows the intensity: malt pushes forward, as light herbal bitterness gives structure. One of the more unusual pilsners we’ve tasted.”
