Pinthouse Pizza Fog Runner

What the brewers say

"Our brew team focused on creating a vastly tropical IPA."

What our panel thought

"Huge hop nose overwhelms and welcomes the drinker: pineapple, tangerine, mango, red berry. Also some raw, herbal fresh hop. Tropical flavor accentuated by sweetness up front. Sweetness fades into low hop burn. Some present alcohol. Nice beer, rough around the edges, to be drunk in a single goblet rather than pint after pint."

What our editors thought

"Guava and lychee burst from the nose. The sip offers funky, tropical, yet structured and defined fruit flavor."

Cerebral Brewing Rare Trait

__Aroma:__ “Grapefruit, tangerine, herbal and very slight bready malt. Straight up guava, pineapple, lime peel. A hint of alcohol, but this is an easy crusher on the beach.” __Flavor:__ “Strongly lemon and grapefruit. The alcohol is fairly present for being a single IPA, but it transitions to a smooth welcomed bitterness that embraces you like an old friend. Drys out very nicely, and the lingering bitterness fades rapidly. Medium bitterness helps accentuate the perceived citrus acidity.” __Overall:__ “There’s a nice blend of citrus with a bit of tropical in the backround. The beer is fairly well balanced with a firm bitterness that isn’t harsh or overpowering. Haze and color are spot on, and the mouthfeel isn’t too thick from an over-addition of wheat or oats. It’s missing the lush fruit ‘wallop’ on the nose, but it’s still a great beer.”

Hop Butcher Run to Daylight

Holy wow on the nose—smells like freshly squeezed OJ, almost one-dimensional but in a good way. Lots of orange, complex orange, and it doesn’t seem artificial. Might be even bigger in the flavor, like an Orange Julius. Alcohol is present but not distracting. Moderate sweetness up front supports the fruit, while moderate bitterness keeps it in balance. Finish is fairly abrupt and clean. One couldn’t drink several pints because then one couldn’t walk, but one would want to try. One of the best IPAs ever.

Green Cheek Beer The Other Brian

Moderate tropical aroma: peach, mango, orange blossom, subtle pine and earth. Inviting. Flavor starts dank, piney, evolving into nectar-like stone fruit. Low sweetness balanced by smooth, gentle, lingering bitterness.
