What the brewers say

"Fermented and aged on Italian plums for 18 months in barrels from nearby Bending Branch Winery."

What our panel thought

"Aroma of tart stone fruit, some vanilla, light wood. Lightly sour, but the residual sweetness lingers like a pastry. Woody, earthy, fruity, complex. The wood and plum blend well, but the beer lacks carbonation."

What our editors thought

"Cotton candy-esque nose with light bubblegum defies expectations. The sip is more subdued, thankfully, with richer plum notes defined by a light and bright acidity."

TRVE Brewing Co. Meditation is the Practice of Death

Rich fruit character, though not distinctly cherry; also Brett, wood, and earth. Lack of head suggests wine. Oak character adds pleasant light spiciness, with fruit fermentation esters; tart, with berry notes. Subtle yet complex.

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Vista Brewing Velo de Flor

An interesting mélange of spicy/peppery phenols and traditional barnyard funk coupled with some gentle yet present oak-derived vanilla and caramel notes. More spicy and funky than tart or sour.
