What the brewers say

"Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Mole Milk Stout."

What our panel thought

“Big, sweet chocolate aroma with a slight spicy cinnamon component and hints of whiskey. Flavor presents big, almost cloyingly sweet chocolate and cinnamon. Moderate soy-sauce umami note.”

What our editors thought

“Curious banana-coconut note on the nose with a hint of cinnamon. The flavor leans toward very light milk chocolate and coconut, with a strong and simple sweetness.”

Main & Mill Brewing Co. Barrel-Aged Imperial Chocolate Peanut Butter Jifforia

Huge aroma of peanut butter and chocolate. Intense flavors of each as well. The bourbon is identifiable but not overpowering: just the vanilla tannins and sweet oak. The oily peanut flavor is very pleasant. The oak, va-nilla, and chocolate malt balance it well.

Roaring Table Brewing Beth

“Light floral hops in the aroma punctuated by a peppery phenolic note and a hint of barnyard. Pineapple and stewed fruit. Balanced bitterness and effervescence, but the mineral character strips nuance.”

Highland Park Brewery Barrel-Aged Griffith J. Griffith (2021)

“Dark chocolate and roast on the nose, relatively muted, with light coffee and heavy cream. In the flavor: a boozy dark-chocolate vanilla, with fruity coffee accentuating the sweet base. Dark, creamy espresso component emerges as it warms.”
