Area Two Experimental Brewing Hexotic 2019

What the brewers say

"Notes of exotic tropical fruits with the lactic and acetic funk of a classic lambic."

What our panel thought

"Tropical fruit–punch aroma. Soft body with bursting notes of tropical fruits flowing across the palate on top of a firm lactic acidity and Brett funk. Aggressive, firm finish with plenty of acidity. Lingering barnyard Brett rounds things out."

What our editors thought

"The tropical smoothie nose (mango, passion fruit, guava) suggests a less rigorous beer, but the sip keeps it honest with a subtle funk that echoes the more complex notes in the fruits themselves."

TRVE Brewing Co. Meditation is the Practice of Death

Rich fruit character, though not distinctly cherry; also Brett, wood, and earth. Lack of head suggests wine. Oak character adds pleasant light spiciness, with fruit fermentation esters; tart, with berry notes. Subtle yet complex.

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Area Two Experimental Brewing Black Raspberry Lambic

Bold cherry, blackberry, raspberry, and black currant aromatics with oaky vanilla undertones. A bit of funk and acetic complement. Vibrant, jammy blackberry in the flavor lingers through to the finish, with a bold acidity, soft tartness, light dryness, and tannic complexity reminiscent of a bold cabernet.
