Adroit Theory Now I Am Death

What the brewers say

Juicy tropical aromas of pear, stone fruit. Quick flash of dank green hops. Pillowy malt body with a creamy full mouthfeel. Minimal bitterness. Semidry finish.

What our panel thought

A blend of onion and citrus hops across the nose. Soft across the palate with a blend of orange and vanilla. The initial onion component falls off after the aroma and settles into big citrus tones. Finishes strong with more citrus notes. Very well executed for such a big IPA. Well balanced throughout and definitely a sipper.

What our editors thought

Rich tropical guava/lychee on the nose is highlighted with a touch of diesel funk. The sip is an expertly re-strained sweet-malt note highlighting those tropical flavors in a compelling way.

Adroit Theory Brewing Company All I See Is Carrion

__Aroma:__ “Sherry, tobacco, damascenone (red berries, tobacco), vinous. There’s very much an aged or cellared character that is certainly interesting. The cherries sneak in and have a red ‘classic’ cherry-candy aroma. Some rich malt. Rich caramel and toasted malt character, and some definite alcoholic heat. Bordering on some barleywine qualities.” __Flavor:__ “Classic Belgian quad with background cherry. Massive dark stone-fruit character floats on top of a traditional quad malt bill. The cherries are well blended with the fermentation esters and phenolics, and the alcohol is present but not hot. The finish is dry with some lingering perceived sweetness, and the high ABV kind of numbs your palate. A bit more carbonation would make everything pop just a touch.” __Overall:__ “A rich Belgium quad with a complement of dark fruits flavors and esters. Complex aged or cellar character. I could see wandering into the cellar and wiping the dust off a bottle you’d forgotten about. Interesting beer but in very small amounts. Enjoy and savor.”

Firestone Walker Brewing Co Mind Haze

“Cotton-candy and grape notes in the nose, with hints of perfume and light floral. Flavor profile is light but fleeting. A wash of chalkiness strips away much of the nuance. As the finish lingers, hints of pine and citrus emerge. APA body encased in hops.”

pFriem Family Brewers IPA

Piney-floral hop aroma—grapefruit, orange, pith, peel, sweat. Notes of sweet caramel and nutty grain. Rounded malt sweetness up front, rolling through citrus zest into smooth bitterness and a clean, dry finish. Some sweetness lingers. Bright, juicy, very drinkable.
