GoodLife Brewing Descender IPA

What the brewers say

"Pine and creamy-citrus notes dominate the nose and combine well with subtle tropical/peach notes."

What our panel thought

"Mellow aroma: candy citrus, fruit punch, passion fruit, with medium malty sweetness. Medium-high malt sweetness draws out fruit-juicy hop flavor, well-rounded with moderate bitterness—then finishes clean and dry without leaving a mark."

What our editors thought

"Friendly, familiar citrus-pine nose. The sip rolls in gently with confident bitterness that feels more pithy than herbal, but rounded edges give it a gentility that never overstays its welcome. Maintains character despite accessibility."

Eastlake Craft Brewery Nicollet Mauler Black IPA

“Aromas of cocoa and coffee mingle with piney hops. Flavor boasts big dark chocolate with classic IPA bitterness. Clean astringency that’s just this side of too dry. Prickly bitter hop presence on a soft bed of roasty malt.”

Upslope Brewing Company - Flatiron Park West Coast IPA

“Beautiful to look at, bright pale gold, thick head, excellent lacing. Touch of sulfur at the outset blows off, allowing stone fruit to take over: peachy, hint of lemon meringue. Lemon and citrus more apparent on the tongue. Touch herbaceous at the finish, adding complexity, making it more-ish.”

Station 26 Brewing Co. Juicy Banger IPA

__Aroma:__ “Dry and bitter pith (lemon, orange, grapefruit). Substantial pine notes play a supporting role. Clean and citrusy. Dank and skunky—not quite college dorm room. Strong hops aroma, mild caramel/toasty malt, some tropical fruit (pineapple, mango).” __Flavor:__ “Dank, resinous flavor, nice and strong, plus a rich citrus complexity. Slides smoothly into a rich bitterness. Moderately strong malt but still subservient to the hops. Clean, smooth bitter finish, with medium sweetness. Spicy notes, too, from the hops: oregano mostly. Tropical fruit.” __Overall:__ “There were nice citrus notes with some hops complexity. The bitterness was balanced to the beer and not overpowering. Stands out late in the tasting.”
