Fox Farm Brewery Scatter

What the brewers say

American brown ale.

What our panel thought

Rich, sweet, toasted malt aroma, with layered caramel, light milk chocolate, and light smoke, supported by floral, woody hops and stone-fruit esters. Initial caramel-malt sweetness but by pleasant bitterness, with fresh, resinous piney-hop flavor that lingers. Slightly creamy finish.

What our editors thought

Floral chocolate and light-roast coffee in the nose, rotating between tropical fruit, chocolate-covered banana, and candied citrus with a touch of smoke. On the sip, earthy hops with fun tropical esters, balanced with slight dark-chocolate bitterness and confident malt sweetness.

Fox Farm Brewery Tiddly

“Sweet, rich caramel-malt aroma, with dark-toasted bread, floral hops, sweet cherry and plum esters, and a touch of dark chocolate. Nitro gives a creamy body with lower carbonation that allows toasted and chocolate malt flavors to linger long. Rich, smooth, satisfying finish with lingering dark-malt impression.”

Three Tigers Brewing Company Old School Brown Ale

“An aroma of white bread, with crusts and toffee swirls, entices the senses. Drinks smoothly, with a deep, bready malt character that has a bitter kick in the end. Keeps the needle pleasantly in clean, toasty malt territory.”

Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company Stuck in Reverse

“Aroma of white bread and toasted crusts evolves into brown-bread maltiness in the flavor. Stays a bit one-note. Perfect level of bitterness balances the malt, rounding out the overall impression. Light, highly quaffable, agreeably smooth. Barely toasted cool liquid.”
