Standard Brewing OK Fine

What the brewers say

OK fine, here’s your NEIPA. Azacca, Mosaic, El Dorado, Sabro, oats, wheat, etc.

What our panel thought

Decidedly citrus-forward aromas and flavors of orange peel, lemon, and tangerine with some earthy and piney aspects hiding the background. The soft mouthfeel accentuates the pleasant and sweeter hops notes for an approachability for the bitter-beer hater. The finish is bitter but not harsh or astringent and has a curious citrus tang to it.

What our editors thought

Guava and chardonnay complement the slightly woody coconut note on the nose, while the mid-sweet sip and soft low bitterness amplify the fruit notes. A tad sweet, but a refreshing approach that’s equal parts unique and comforting.

WeldWerks Double Guava Milkshake

Deep orange color with chunks. Distinctive guava nose with vanilla. Balanced mouthfeel between the lactose and fruit while allowing the base beer to show itself. Sweet by design, but restrained.

Radiant Beer Co DDH Hope Like Fire

“Hops dominate aroma with grapefruit, tangerine, coconut, sweet-sour candy, and spice. Deep hop flavor—a citrus cascade—with tangerine, grapefruit, zest, and pithy bitterness. Tooth-coating citrus-oil note, chewy mouthfeel. Balancing malt sweetness. Complex hop character.”

Tallgrass Brewing Company Ethos IPA

**Aroma:** “Very floral, light peppery notes and a hint of malt sweetness. Lemon and tangerine hops up front with a hint of pine.” **Flavor:** “Very nice light sweeter citrus notes with hints of tangerine, lemon, and grapefruit and some piney, grassy, and resinous hops flavor too. Hint of carbonic bite in the finish. Delicate malt sweetness supports without getting in the way. Finishes somewhat dry and bitter but not lingering.” **Overall:** “Very nice balance of hops flavor and bitterness. Light, approachable example of an American IPA with some newer hops complexity and a restrained bitterness that makes it great for a variety of palates. The body is a little thin, but hardly worth worrying over.”
