The Veil Brewing Co. Covered in Nothing

What the brewers say

"Pilsner malt, oats, spelt, and unmalted wheat, co-fermented... in French oak red wine barrels."

What our panel thought

"Vinous nose with buttery, woody richness; hints of ripe banana, plum, dark cherry. Red wine, oak, Concord grape, pear. Big barrel character throws it out of balance. On the weirder side of wild."

What our editors thought

"Sweet sherry nose suggests barrels and age. Spanish cidre, marmalade. An umami weight best savored slowly and deliberately."

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Roses by the Stairs Brewing Blackberry-Picking

“Bright expression of ripe blackberry, full of earthy hedgerow notes on the nose, hinting at bramble. A deep, satisfying sweetness on the palate, with a malty undertone of bread or pie crust—blackberry tart. Long, dry finish, with distinct tartness balanced by a hint of sweetness.”

Nantahala Brewing Company Chocolate-Covered Cherry Stout

__Aroma:__ “Rich sweet notes of cherries make it smell like a cherry cordial. Some high dark chocolate aroma dominates the notes, with some raisin, plum, and slight vanilla presence, with a bit of toast.” __Flavor:__ “The notes of chocolate and cherries dominate and carry through the beer—the cherries are bright and sweet, and the chocolate is light and milky. Fruit esters (cherry, raisin, and plum) dominate the mid-palate and give a round and sweet flavor throughout. Roast is thin and light in the back, with little to no hops presence outside of the finish.” __Overall:__ “A very fun beer—I enjoyed the blend of cherries and chocolate, and as it warmed, it tasted like chocolate- covered cherries. It’s a great sweet and chewy stout with fruity esters to balance the roast. Would love an imperial version, with boosted flavors.”
