There are a few ways you can add aromas to your beer using late hops additions:

  • You can add hops to your whirlpool to add aromas, without adding additional bitterness or flavors. Because you're no longer using boiling temperatures, you won't extract further flavors from the hops.
  • After fermentation has finished, people add even more hops to the fermentor, which is known as dry-hopping. This adds aromas to the beer, and is popular in IPAs because CO2 can blow away a lot of your aromas.
