What the brewers say

“A sessionable pale lager inspired by similar Czech beers.”

What our panel thought

“Soapy-floral aroma with layers of green apple and floral hops; doughy, crackery, lightly toasty. Pleasant bready malt flavor and enjoyable Noble-hop notes, but the parts fall short of coalescing into a well-rounded package. Amped-up carbonation is distracting to malt profile.”

What our editors thought

“Woody notes—cedar, redwood—offer a dry, earthy nose. On the sip, mellow bitterness, effortlessly light and slightly sweet malt body. Simple sophistication.”

Schilling Beer Co. Modernism

“In the nose, light malt swaddled in inviting floral hops. Leans hoppy in flavor and bitterness; finishes with a light lingering burnt note. Roast malt melds well with bitterness, but closer to a ‘black pale ale.’ Nice underlying malt depth, but you have to search.”

Cinderlands Beer Co. Squish

“Soft apricot, kiwi, citrus in the nose. Tangerine, melon on the palate, soft, sweet, light. Semisweet with a low bitterness profile followed by a clean medium finish.”

Oskar Blues Brewery Mama’s Little Yella Pils

“Toasty, doughy, cracker-like aromatics, along with floral, spicy hops. Striking Noble-hop flavor wrapped around complex malt richness. Rounded bitterness is turned up a bit in the finish, but not to the level of harshness. Very enjoyable.”
