What the brewers say

“A bourbon barrel–aged English-style barleywine.”

What our panel thought

“Cherry and raisin in the aroma, as huge stone-fruit notes intermingle with caramel malt. Firm, earthy bitterness up front, then heavy toasted caramel malt notes in the middle. Pleasant moderate alcohol warmth. A cocktail-like burnt orange peel note. Very classic, with a nice freshness to it.”

What our editors thought

“Grape and berry notes in the aroma with a spritzy lightness. Bourbon caramel with a friendly but firm toasted bitterness gives particular shape to the sip.”
