Alvarado Street Brewery Riwaka, Baby!

What the brewers say

“Double dry hopped with 100 percent Riwaka hops.”

What our panel thought

“Muted aroma with slight fruity hop notes and a low counterpoint of toasty malt. Flavor has a slight cinnamon note on top of the medium citrus and a malt presence that provides balance. Nice roundness to the mouthfeel. Medium bitterness.”

What our editors thought

“Signature New Zealand hop notes in the nose (tropical blossom, wet fern, passion fruit) with hints of strawberry. Sweetly tensioned in the sip, with a fresh green-fruit character and rind bitterness that pull against the juicier notes.”

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

North Park Beer Co. Inversion of Time

“Dank-forward aromatics with sweet tropical-fruit undertones. In the sip, a supportive dose of pine and booze to balance. Some sweet heat stays fairly well-hidden. Maintains balance thanks to a supportive malt structure and soft mouthfeel.”

Brewskey Pub & Taproom Singularity Citra

“Funky overripe melon and pineapple in the nose. A firm bitterness, some dank, diesel hop flavor followed by fresh melon. Just a slight sharpness fades away into softer flavors and a lasting sweeter finish.”

Alvarado Street Brewery eight.1

“Melon, velvety pine, a bit of grapefruit in the aroma. Perfume-like, flowery, citrus hop flavors. A great pillowy mouthfeel despite the lack of malt flavor. The bitterness transforms into a slightly sweet, crisp, lemony finish. A clean dry finish really carries the bitterness through.”
