American Solera Magic Touch

What the brewers say

“Double IPA brewed with Moutere and Kohatu.”

What our panel thought

“Berry-forward notes of strawberry and blackberry in the aroma, accentuated by subtle tropical hints of pineapple and coconut. The tropical and berry-forward flavor quickly fades into a drying bitterness that strips away those inviting nuances. Bitterness lingers long into the dry, borderline-astringent finish.”

What our editors thought

“Red-wine grape on the nose, bold and pronounced. In the flavor, there are sweet grape layers under more strident top-notes. Restrained and defined, with a red-grape boldness.”

American Solera I Wanna Talk About Mosaic

“Peppery tropical-fruit salad, melon, citrus, and pine say, ‘Drink me.’ Dank, earthy, and a bit vegetal in the aroma, with some subtle hints of garlic and chives. Sweet malt supports the peach and strawberry notes dancing in the background, while the soft bitterness blurs the line between juicy and West Coast.”

2nd Shift Brewing Co Art of Neurosis

“The nose is dank and earthy, but fairly muted. Light floral, resin, and pineapple. Medium malt, high firm bitterness. The flavor pivots to a dark, resinous pine paired with a little toasty malt and resin, pepper, light diesel, and orange or grapefruit citrus. Bitterness builds in the aftertaste.”

Alvarado Street Brewery Palio

“Light citrus pith collides with sauvignon blanc in the aroma; woody, herbal, spicy, followed by straight malt. Floral orange comes to the front of the flavor; clean, crisp, with medium bitterness to carry it. Unique varietals come through in the flavor; unique, complex, while still dry and drinkable.”
