American Solera Western Vibes

What the brewers say

Lager aged in American oak foeders for three months.

What our panel thought

Czech-ish impression—a bit of yeast on the nose accompanies some sweet, bready malt. On the palate, a pleasant combination of toasty lager-malt with a rustic oak note—a softness, with a little vanilla ambience—and just a splash of spicy hops. Light-bodied. Great balance throughout.

What our editors thought

Spritzy nose of light stone fruit and lime with a touch of hay. The sip brings a broad-shouldered bitterness to the rugged, heavy-set body. More offensive lineman than your typical lager wide receiver.

American Solera I Wanna Talk About Mosaic

“Peppery tropical-fruit salad, melon, citrus, and pine say, ‘Drink me.’ Dank, earthy, and a bit vegetal in the aroma, with some subtle hints of garlic and chives. Sweet malt supports the peach and strawberry notes dancing in the background, while the soft bitterness blurs the line between juicy and West Coast.”

American Solera Old Friend - Year 7

“Pleasant aroma, driven by soft lemony and floral notes, underpinned by a bit of light multigrain cracker. Soft tartness defines the flavor, with some white-wine impressions. A lingering bitterness, and a spiky bit of alcoholic warmth. Finish is dry and clean. Soft malt character.”

American Solera Solero

“Golden in color, brilliantly clear except a floating (hop?) haze. Notably puffy white head lingers. Mild citrus, light melon, and kiwi hops on the nose. Well-integrated, firm hop bitterness and flavor. Blueberry hop emerges as the bitterness fades, complements the grainy, doughy pils malt. Cracker-like crispness with a clean, off-dry finish.”
