Squatters American Wheat Hefeweizen

What the brewers say

“Brewed with German yeast and Tettnanger hops and has delicate citrus flavors.”

What our panel thought

“This beer aims for the simple Bavarian weizen and does a good job of staying on target. A smooth marriage of clove and banana, and the wheat flavor adds a nice bready note. It’s a little drier and lighter bodied than some examples. Not an earth-mover, but a solid offering.”

What our editors thought

“Tangy carbonic bite pushes in front of a soft wheat character but quickly drops off into less body than one might expect from a hefe. A touch thin and a bit light on character and personality, as it foregoes yeast esters for a more accessible drinkability.”
