What the brewers say

PB Hobo is our imperial stout made with lots of peanuts, and then more peanuts. Enjoy rich peanut-butter notes mingled with a deliciously roasted and full bodied imperial stout.

What our panel thought

Rich peanut-butter nose with subtle hints of chocolate, cracker, and roast malt that blend well together. The peanut character becomes a bit more subtle in the flavor with the chocolate, roast, and cracker-like malt flavors emerging a bit more than they did in the aroma. The medium body may be a bit light, but the beer still comes across as bold and rich. The finish is moderately dry, holding onto enough beer character to avoid any semblance of cloying sweetness. A well-crafted take on the classic mash-up of peanut butter and chocolate while still holding the line of beer.

What our editors thought

Roasty and rich peanut on the nose, with a real nutty character and a pervasive thickness. The sip thins out a touch, relative to the nose, but the body remains somewhat light and dry rather than leaning into the temptation to go full-on sweet. Finishes with just a touch of ashiness, adding a slight astringency in the finish that’s buffered by the very mild sweetness.
