By All Means Beer Zymopunk

What the brewers say

“Pilsner with Saphir and Kazbek hops.”

What our panel thought

“Nose is a bit sweeter than expected—soft candy notes with fewer balancing spicy notes. Amazing limoncello hop nose. Low carbonation increases the perception of thinness. Dry hopping lends some nice earthy notes, but also a dusty character that muddles the finish. Stands out in a crowd as a hoppy American pilsner. Bitterness is quite restrained. Clean, approachable, and quaffable.”

What our editors thought

“Extra light with an American hop nose—insanely light body and delicately balanced hop flavor feels ultra contemporary.”

By All Means Beer Oktoberfest

“Moderately strong vanilla and oak up front, which, combined with the rich toasty bread-crust malt, gives it a bourbon character. Notes of very floral wood and light cinnamon spice. The barrel dominates this beer completely—could use just a bit more body.”

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Maine Beer Co. Mean Old Tom

Aroma: “Faint spice and soft chocolate with a pleasant roasted background. Slight grassy hops and a hint of tartness brighten it up a bit, though there’s a faint hint of sour milk.” Flavor: “Dark chocolate with a very roasty, almost astringent finish accentuated by the hops. The vanilla adds nice underlying spice but isn’t particularly strong. Finish is smooth and creamy, with lingering dry coffee and hops bitterness.” Overall: “It’s nice to taste a beer with restrained adjuncts. In this case, the vanilla adds some complexity throughout but isn’t a dominant characteristic. The underlying stout is balanced toward the bitter side, but that comes across well in this case and leaves a dryer impression where the dark roast notes linger on the tongue.”
